Logo ELE UNIBE

In addition to the Spanish as a Foreign Language classes (ELE, by its acronym in Spanish) available since 1982 for our undergraduate students in international academic programs, UNIBE offers private ELE classes delivered in virtual and face-to-face mode on campus or at the student’s preferred location.

Private classes allow students to study all ELE levels established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, completing the corresponding required hours of study for mastery of the Spanish language. Students can select between 30 or 60 hours of study.

Contextual learning activities

Students may choose to participate in contextual learning activities designed for a fun and true cultural immersion experience. Some of the tours include: The Cacao Trail, the Colonial Zone, Discovering the Taínos and tropical dance classes. Community service activities are also included.

As innovative and unique activities for language improvement, culture-oriented workshops are offered with functional or grammatical content, such as ELE and bachata, among others.

DELE exam

UNIBE is an exam center in Santo Domingo for the DELE Exam from the Cervantes Institute. DELE stands for Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language). Students will improve their communication skills while practicing the exam content and its structure, for any of the language levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. Test preparation courses are offered from 16 to 20 hours over several weeks and before the exam date.

Specialized courses

In our specialized courses, students can travel to the Dominican Republic and select one of the available focus areas: diplomatic corps, Spanish teachers, business or health professionals. Classes are structured according to the required communication skills, and may include presentations, meetings, cultural integration activities in small groups or tutorials.

For private Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) classes, students can select the schedule and the number of hours.

Classes can be taken online (via Microsoft Teams) or face-to-face in our classrooms or at the student’s preferred location. One class hour is 50 minutes.
